Hi guys! Wow, I am finally back, after many finals (and a couple tubs of ice cream) I am finally on break. I have been itching to get out and shoot and get a post up for the past couple of weeks so itsagthang.com and I went up to the conservatory at Volunteer park in Seattle to shoot. I fell in LOVE with this location, the plants, the lighting, the colors are all so amazing for photography.
Anyways, today I wanted to talk about how my personal style changes when traveling from city to city (Los Angeles to Seattle). I grew up in the Seattle area and my style was always heavily influenced by what I saw around me and the amazing street style that the PNW has to offer. However, when I moved to LA, my wardrobe quickly expanded to anything from a grundy dark look, to a full business suit and six inch heels. Thats one thing I love about LA, everyday can be different and especially at my school, experimenting with your style is welcomed and encouraged. When I travel home for breaks, like I am on right now, I can feel myself reverting back to my “Seattle style” of feminine pieces and a whole collection of Free People dresses that perfectly matches the hoard of Birkenstocks and the smell of pine trees. And thats completely okay! For a long time I thought I had to develop a consistent personal style but I realized that it can change based on my surroundings or even day to day how I am feeling.
I think whether we realize it or not, we are all so inspired by the environment we are in, the people we are around, and the street style we see. Being able to take in your surroundings and put a spin on it to make it your own is what personal style is all about.
Those are my ramblings for the day, I hope you enjoyed this post, and stay tuned for more in the next couple of weeks!
